Drilling rig

Drilling rigs can be a mobile equipment mounted on trucks or trailers, or more permanent offshore structures such as oil platforms, commonly called offshore oil rigs even if they do not contain a drilling rig).

Larger rigs are capable of drilling through thousands of meters of the earth’s crust with the help of the big ”mud pumps” circulate drilling mud through the drill bit. Lifting gear in the rig can lift hundreds of tons of pipe. Other equipment can force acid or sand into reservoirs to facilitate extraction of oil or natural gas.
